Whoops, Im actually running GH 6 series.....is StructDrawRhino compatible?

Hi Craig,

 

Nice to hear from you.  I don't actively build new updates for gh v6, but I still make the older installers available (last build was september last year).  

 

http://ssi.wikidot.com/local--files/downloads/ssiStructDrawRhinoIns... is a direct link but there is a public link on http://www.geometrygym.com/downloads  (the 2nd of two for SDR)

 

Installation instructions are still pretty much the same as outlined here: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym/forum/topics/install...

Thanks for the offer of help, really appreciated!! I havent got round to downloading your StructDrawRhino yet, been bit busy....i was wondering though, will it work with my version of rhino? im running rhino 4.0 SR 4.....i am unable to get the SR 8, my cd key is not recognised for some reason [not a pirate copy, i got it through my university] what would you advise?

I think it needs SR5b.  I'll see if I can dig out an installer for earlier.

 

Do you know that v5 is offering an extended trial license (I've heard, I haven't used it myself), 3 months.  You could run latest of gh and my plugins if that works for you.

i think ideally i would like to be able to utilise your plugin for longer than just three months - however, that would be great if you could dig out an earlier installer and it could work with rhino 4.0 SR4! if not i don't suppose you know of any way i can get a newer SR given the fact that my rhino 4.0 cd key is not recognised by the official website?

Sorry to bother you again, but I was wondering if you've had any luck tracking down an earlier installer so I can get cracking with your plug-in? Or if don't have one, if you've any advice as to how I can obtain a more recent SR for Rhino 4.0 if my CD key isn't recognised by the Rhino website.

Not that it's from 14 months ago, and I quickly checked seems to be prior to my grasshopper components.  Is Grasshopper required?

 

If you have a legitimate CD key, I would recommend you contact McNeel (contact details on their website) and have them resolve the issue.  I've seen other users post questions like this to rhino newsgroup that were resolved.

 

Does Grasshopper run on SR4?  If it's really needed, I can try to rebuild, but it might be a week or two before I get a chance to do so (I quickly tried now but need some time to do it).

Grasshopper runs perfectly well on SR4, however I am unsure as to what I need....sorry!! Perhaps if I fill you in on what I'm trying to do first....

 

Basically, I'm attempting to model weaire-phelan structures in Rhino, somewhat similar to the Watercube building, and the components you discuss on your blog seem to be absolutely perfect - what exactly do I need to get these components working on Rhino 4 SR4 so that I can experiment with them? Like I said before, I'm a novice when it comes to Grasshopper and this kind of complex modelling....I look forward to hearing back from you, apologies for taking up your time with this.

I'll have to build the plugin for the older version, if Grasshopper works I can do it, I just need some time to do so.  Maybe this weekend if I find some time to do it.

Hi Jon,

 

You can have the weekend off, I've managed to have my CD key issue resolve by McNeel and I'm now running Rhino 4.0 SR8 and the latest Grasshopper. I'll be downloading StructDrawRhino [Bull Ant] plugin as soon as possible. Thanks again for all your help, really appreciated. No doubt I'll have some queries regarding the Weaire-Phelan modelling......

I've just downloaded and installed the plugin, and I've emailed you the licence request file, I hope that was the correct thing to do. I look forward to getting confirmation back from you as soon as you can so I can get cracking!! Been really looking forward to experimenting with it.
