Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

I am new here and also quite new to Geometry Gym(just downloaded minutes ago).

I tried to network patch my structure as seen below with Geometry Gym component, but it only give me those triangular surfaces but not those hexagonal ones.

Just wondering whether it is because the curves are not planar or it is a problem of running without license?

and if it is the latter reason, how can I purchase a student license for myself?

Thanks!

Do you want the patch effect (attempt to set up a network of filled and voided regions)?

Or are you after each face?

Here's some of the original discussion that motivated the development of the patch routine.

I've attached a version of your script trying to generate all faces, note that the faces with larger number of segments on the perimeter appear to be non planar, so you might have to generate a loft or similar instead.

Jon

Sorry, the previous post had an attachment that I hadn't saved.  This should be better.

Thank you for helping!

But loft does not seem to work though...I think divide the polygon into triangles might work but I don't want to do that...

I tried to use delaunay mesh which just divided the polygons into triangles.

then I simply just projected those polygons onto the plane of them and kind of successfully made it. thanks!

Sorry Jon!

I got a new problem with network patching with a new geometry...Please help!

Thanks!

Well, you can of course fit the points to a plane.  Here's a  fairly crude example, I'm sure you might be able to do better (and fix the error).

Cheers,

Jon
