unroll a surface tried python fabtools, can i have some help pls!??

y I can non unroll my surface?? How should I do a surface from the parametric ellipse and arcs to make it work? thank you in advance :)

You have to further subdivide this trimmed surface in order to unroll it.

refer to the attached.

I think there is a problem with the surface I generated at the beging since it is not exact on the ellipse. Do you know a mode to do a parametric paraboloid elliptic?

this is the initial file of the surface

No

But Wolfram does.

:) I have already seen that and the solution I found even with the arcs non parabolic seemed to work fine but I can not make e good surface from it

what does "good surface" means in this case?

I'm slighlty confused here. The title of the thread is howto unroll. Not how to generate "good surfaces".

Ta,

M

I think the problem I don't know if I'm wrong since it's a patch surface and it doesn't match exactly with the initial ellipse maybe it's that the mistake and it doesn't unroll. maybe a network surface it's better as a construction and it can unroll more easily.

Ok

The elliptic paraboloid is not a developable surface (at least not to my knowledge). So, if you want to unroll it in one sheet, that's never gonna happen.

That the reason you've to discretise it, and unroll the discrete parts.

Hope this makes sense

Best.

M

Thx I'll try another way to use voronoi on the surface then. :)
