Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

The Unroller script  has been reworked from scratch. And is a lot more reliable with Brep input. As well the placement of the unrolled surfaces works a lot better now.

The script has turned into a userobject. You need to place the .ghuser file in the UserObject folder of Grasshopper (File - Special Folders - User Object Folder). Thats all, after drop you can use it without a restart of GH or Rhino.

Contact me if you have some question or for bug reports.

Enjoy!

Hi Florian,

I really appreciate your tools. But do we know how the unroll component orients the geometry in the frame? It seems geometry gets rotated or flipped when placed on the specified frames. And if it is getting disoriented I'm also not sure why when I unroll points with my surfaces, the point order also gets messed up...Any help would be great! thanks again.

Hi Justin,

it's pretty hard to understand, what and where something went wrong, without an example. Can you please post an example File, of what you were trying to do?

Please download also the new FabTools, if you didn't already. There is a new unroll and arrange component which allows to be more flexible when you want to place pieces in a frame.

Cheers,

FF

Hi Florian,

Thank you for your reply, I've attached a simple example file, that will hopefully better explain my translation issue.

Any help would be great!

Thanks again

Hey guys, I just tried the newer Fabtools Unroll component.

it works very well with labelling and stuff, but somehow, all of my surfaces stack onto each other.

This keep happening even though I change the offset distance.

Any suggestions?

Cheers!
