algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone,
What is Grasshopper?
A quite simple Question, but very difficult to answer. I tried to define it, but whatever I came up with, did not reflect the real power and greatness of this fabulous tool.
So today I opened a grasshopper 3d article at wikipedia with a minimal definition
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grasshopper_3d
and would like to invite you all to help define this peace of software.
-Cheers

Hi Luis,
I added Jeffs references to the article.
Great job you did on that page!
When do you think it will be ready for "official" release? What is missing, if any for that?

Can you combine your user page with the Grasshopper page that is online?
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Grasshopper_3d&oldid=...
I think between the two pages we will be ready to remove the delete tag off the page. Should this be so difficult?
Its not my page Scott, its the page which was originally there and got deleted. There was already a GH page on wikipedia and this user deleted it. I asked him to restore it, and he decided to put it on my user page. I recommend to not having the article 'live' until it meets the requirements.
I also did not think it would be so difficult, but the rules are clear, and make sense for the most part. If we have to dig up references, things should wait. I am confident there is more than enough out to make the case very clear. Putting it together, making it tidy, etc can take it even beyond the stub status that Rhino3d currently has.
Is there anything I can do to have it meet requirements?
The article that compares Grasshopper to other generative software is good, since the other software mensioned have wikipedia pages. We also could add links to books and tutorials if that is helpful.
This is the best I have right now:

I am sure members here have many more examples.

I updated the Grasshopper page with more references. I hope it helps. Once we get "notable" status, then we can get the page looking better.

Feel free to merge the pages together.
looks like its going to be deleted again. deadline is feb 14th
Looks like a Wikipedia article will be a challenge.
Here are the notes on Notability for software.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(software)
Notability really needs to come from everyone on this community. Also, you may want to look at other technical products that have established notability. There is a good articles on Processing that may serve as an example.
Seems to me if we establish that Grasshopper is written about in the press:
http://aecmag.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id...
Does anynone know other articles?
Establish that it is being taught at schools: USC, Cornell, Columbia etc...
http://woojsung.com/2009/09/09/grasshopper-workshop-at-cornell-arch...
Can anyone add to the list of schools that are teaching it?
And talk about notable projects it has been used on, that should be enough to keep the article from being deleted.
Welcome to
Grasshopper
