Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

first of all: thank you for the great job programing grasshopper.

When programming a complex gh script its sometimes hard to identify those components performing a specific task. So, I was wondering if there is an option to draw an ordinary rectangle around specific components instead of a shaky freehand sketch. Maybe also with an option to name it like a tab?

Kindly,

Ben

Every sketch can be send to rhino as curves, and any rhino curves can be reimported back into a sketch. The features are available through the sketch menu.
And of course you can always group the components too, groups support names directly.

Actually i meant the grasshopper GUI itself. When i am working in the grasshopper window, i place the components in a logical order and connect them via a wire. If I do have lots of components which perform a logical step i can draw a line around it (with the red pencil shown in the upper left of the GUI) and use the text tool to i.e. write: "this 17 components are doing the calculation for xyz". But still it is a freehand line which i draw - can´t it be a rectangle instead?

Kindly,

Ben

mark the components (make them green) then ctrl+G and you have a group

can´t it be a rectangle instead?

If you want neat sketch geometry you'll have to draw it in Rhino.
