algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Wondering if anyone has any experience sending, for example, the top view of a Rhino model to a projector. I'm running structural analysis onto beams in my Rhino model through Karamba, and I want to be able to visualize them in the physical world by sending the coloured analysis (blue and red schematic) onto a 3D printed beam through a projector.
I know Firefly allows you to send video livestream from a camera into Rhino, but is there any way this communication can be reversed? I've looked into sending a colour pattern from Rhino to Processing, then to a projector.. but thinking there's an easier way to send this visual data.

You can use other software like Cinema4D or After Effects and preferable vvvv for projection mapping. If you record your data as animation/video and you import your 3d model in vvvv you can create a virtual projector (which is basically a camera). vvvv allows you to have multiple screens, where one of the screens can be the projection of the data video clip onto the geometry from the virtual projector point of view. You then use this view point/screen in full screen sent to the real projector. To get the exact mapping needs tweaking the parameters of the virtual projector based on the real projector specs (focal length, etc...) Doing a real-time data projection from GH and Rhino also can be achieved but you need a link between vvvv and GH for instance using UDP. I'm sure it can also be done directly via GH but needs a creation of virtual camera looking at your geometry which acts as the projector, also you need to then send this view separately to a real projector for mapping onto real space. Perhaps someone here knows a workflow from GH/Rhino.
this is a basic tutorial of how it's done:

Thanks Amir this is extremely helpful!
