Why do dimensions not bake?

I've tried baking dimensions in a few ways, but it seems there is a bug?

Could it be that they all bake to a datum?  (Y)

Can we get this bug fixed please? And could we get an output on this component so we can automatically send these dimensions to respective layers, i.e. via each branch?

Tags similarly would be nice to have an output.

hi jonathan,

You can use this workaround to bake your dims.

Thanks, will use this a lot and will give feedback.

Would be nice to have dimensions, as currently production in many cases is old school!

How do I use it?

you basically use the component's nickname to bake the geometry it outputs. So in order to target a specific dimension component that you want to bake you will have to change its nickname and then feed this specific name back to the Python component that handles the baking.

You need to have GH Python installed.

Best,

M

Sorry, cant get it to work:
Have I got the nickname link correct?:

Hi jonathan,

Apologies for the late reply. There is a link to the subcode page where you can find a working gh file for this. No need to copy the code.
Hope it helps.
I thought you had already downloaded it.

Cheers,
M

Thanks

Hi Jonathan,

you can take a look at FabTools, which makes work with dimensions and layout creation in GH a lot easier. All the dimensions created with FabTools do have an output and so you can define properties like name, grouping, layer for the baking process.

I hope this helps,

cheers FF
