Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

In one of my projects I used a combination of Galapagos and ladybug/honeybee to help generate the form, and I just got around to working up a short article detailing the process. Any feedback/critiques are appreciated!

i dont understand, why your glapagos results (fitness) lately become constant and never get better? i thought its suppose to get better over time/mutations?

did you try to add other criteria such like increasing floor height or changing building orientation

.....

and then you can use average/weighted sums fitness equations ... i think it wil make it get better

At a certain point the solver has worked its way up to what is most likely the absolute maximum (or close to it) of the fitness landscape, and any new best solutions won't be significantly better than those that came before.

I'm definitely hoping to have a chance to mess around with this a bit more in the future and build in a few more variables for Galapagos to work with, but because of the various types of program that needed to be in specific locations it made more sense to do the floor plates by hand and take the time saved by not scripting that aspect and put it back into some of the finishing touches of the project.
