algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Dear Forum,
How does one publish something in GH online so users could interact with sliders, enter information as input parameters? I see that a lot of folks are starting to use Processing for that -- is something like that easy to do with GH?
Trying to figure it out but I'm quite lost
Cheers,
Ognek

not easy to do with gh (never say never, but really, not doable at the moment)...
publishing to the web is a feature built in to processing...
Yup, processing is based on Java and completely self-sustaining. Grasshopper was build upon the Rhino SDK so there's no way you can use it without running Rhino at the same time.

What about running a Rhino+Grasshopper instance on one PC and letting remote computers adjust the Grasshopper slider values, and see the viewport output change live (or even with a few seconds delay) through some neat little browser applet, then bake/export and order their 3d print ?
I imagine this would be be complex, but I don't really know how complex - Within the realms of possibility ?
It seems like if it were then Grasshopper would lend itself very well to this sort of mass customization.
Or... Users could download a small app similar to the iphone rhino viewer which would contain parts of the sdk allowing to run compiled GH definitions but not make new ones ?
It would just display the "remote control" and a rhino viewer as well as a "freeze and send" command. Processing is not so good with 3D is it?
There's already software out there that allows people at one computer to control another computer, "Remote Desktop" as it's known.
The main disadvantage of this is that the software needs to run server-side, and Rhino + Grasshopper are not minimal applications. This is partly why Java on the web is so popular, because it's run on the client-side.

Luis, David,
Thank you for the comments.
I understand. Is there by chance a way to export GH definitions to Java format?
Best,
Ognek
You'd also have to export all of Rhino to Java.

I see..
Damn..
But what about..
wait, no.. that won't work..
Damn..
Hmmm ... starting to port OpenNurbs to Java ?
Maybe a minimal version only able to read 3dm files
to define objects would be enough to start writing
3dm web viewers ...
... Or that's only nonsense ? :)
