algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi guys,
I`m really struggling to create proper offset surfaces in Grasshopper. My Intention is to create a certain panel thickness out of a bunch of connected surfaces. If I just bake the whole surfaces and then try to offset them as a joined polysurface manually in rhino the result is awfully imprecisely.
I also tried to measure the angle between each surface to create the offset surface myself, but that didn`t worked as intended either.
If it is possible, the best result would be to have single panels rather than one brep.
I would be pleased if someone could help me out. Thanks.

You might have better luck with meshes. Have a look at this thread:

It`s a bit confusing with all these Commands of Mesh+, all I need is a clean offset which can be used to do further operations on the edges (miters, joints, etc).
The Grasshopper Data you made for that example is a bit overwhelming and I`m not sure if I can use it for my problem and if yes I don`t know how.
It isn`t necessary to otain surfaces/meshes in the end, lines would do the job (and could probably be the cleaner option)
Thanks

found this article about how they managed to create panel thickness and miters, but the defintion is too general for me to apply them to grasshopper.
Hey,
Thank you! seems to look very good. Which Add-Ons did you use? I can`t open the data properly.
WeaverBird + Mesh Edit.
installed both, but I end up getting another solution. The result (what you marked in the red box in the end) is a simple triangle, which is way bigger then the structure.
Found out which component is missing and it seems like it is something called "clean tree", can anybody tell me which add-on/mod is needed to run that command?
"Clean Tree" is one of native GH components.(Sets-->Tree-->Clean Tree)
