Parametricism. Is it still in force?

It does tend to produce items of a certain look, especially in beginner's (amongst whom I count myself) hands. Just like NURBS, which because of the ease of the geometry they're able to generate, can result in sneakers that look like razors that look like civic centers.

In the current state of design, there is no way of telling what the purpose of these objects is, the only clue here being scale, which a few model railroading trees provide. Are they hearing aids, air purifiers or starships?
