Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,

I am trying to make a vonoroi pattern on a surface which is as scan from my knee.

I managed to make the scan polygon mesh into a patch such that I could use it in grasshopper, but as you can see in the picture below the voronoi pattern goes over whole patch instead of the part that I trimmed...

Could anyone help me with this problem?

I guess it has something to do with the boundary surface, but I have no idea how to fix it at this point.

Thanks a lot!!

Is this something to do with your surface being trimmed? I think you need your surface not to be trimmed before you map the voronoi onto it.

Yes I think that is the problem indeed, but unfortunately I need that specific shape of surface..

Do you maybe know how I could do that differently?

I'm not at my pc right now so can't check anything but getting a voronoi on a surface has been done before by intersecting a 3D voronoi in the bounding box of the brep with that brep.

The result can be thickened into a mesh.

I have an example Def somewhere and will upload it later but not sure if it will work on a trimmed surface. Maybe there is a way to fix your surface. I'm sure someone on here knows how... I've seen this sort of issue crop up before!

This was the discussion that did something similar to what you are trying to achieve...

VORONOI ON SURFACE

gh file attached...  if it still has the same problem you will still need to somehow remove the trimmed part of your surface. I can't remember the exact terminology but hopefully someone else will!

Thank you so much!!

I will try to figure it out with that, hopefully it works :)

Thanks again!

Hi Martyn,

It works now!

Thanks for your help

Great!
Are you making a knee brace?
