algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi People

I am having some problems with Rhino

In the model I have done in rhino there are some features - split face.
As I save it as stp/step and open it in solidworks I cannot see them.

I need those split face things for my simulation in solidworks.

Thanks for your help

Hi Firat,

You should post this question on Rhino's forum.

It's been some time since I used Solid Works, but at least two years ago Solid Works supported Rhino 4 .3dm files. So you save your Rhino 5 .3dm file as Rhino 4 .3dm file and open it in Solid Works.

Also try running the "ShrinkTrimmedSrf" command on those splitted surfaces before you export them.

Thanks for help but really not working
surfaces in solidworks are merged - not splitted.
And objects pops up as a unique part - not assembly...

Have any idea?

So now you see the surfaces in SolidWorks? Previously you said that you couldn't see them.
But now those surfaces are merged instead of being splitted?

I think there is a misunderstanding
I am using splitface command - in rhino
I convert the model into solidworks

I wanna use that split face areas as boundaries of my FEA simulation.
However they are gone when i open the model in solidworks

Why can't you explode in Rhino the polysurface consisted of those two splitted surfaces, then run the "ShrinkTrimmedSrf", then run the "Join" command, save the file as a Rhino 4 .3dm and import it into SolidWorks?

I can not help you sorry.
You will be better off if you open a new topic about this issue on Rhino forum.
