Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello guys,

I'm having a problem on how to populate different geometry into points.

The script that i have created only allows me to populate a same geometry into the points.

They cant populate all geometry into point.

It would be great if someone could help me to solve it.

Would you like to distribute your geometries randomly?

Hi Kim,

sorry for bothering.

just wondering if this i could actually distribute my geometries not randomly?

say like if there is 100 points, 30 of them would be cylinder, 40 of them would be pyramid etc.?

I know there is a tool call split list/ sort item. But i'm not so sure how to work them out.

Omg! thank you so much for the help Kim.

Yup distribute randomly is good enough for this stage.

I'm also trying to have all these geometry to sit inside the form
.

At the moment they were spreading all around.

I tried graph but it didnt work.

It would be awesome if you could help out.

Thanks so much!

Something like this?

Yes,that is awesome kim!

thank you so much for your help, really appreciate it.

I've been trying to mesh boolean/split these 'objects' so they sit inside the 'bigger objects'.

But so far i've only able to attract the object outside, not the inside.

not sure why. :\

Why don't you use "Mesh Intersection" ?

gosh..totally forgot the other one.

thank you so much for the help kim!

Really appreciate it.

Hi Kim,

I tried mesh difference from the initial object & the "floating object".

But i cant seem to get it working. Do you know what is the problem here?

The result came out like this..

Hi.samuel chin

You can choose "Random" or "Grouping" mode with this def. Load 3dm first.

omg thank you soooo much for the help Kim! I loved the script, its so cool and amazing!

One last question here, sorry if it causes too much of a bother, just wondering can these input breps kind of sit in a bounding box so they dont overlap each other when the amount gets more?

Like they sort of sitting in a organised way?

Hi kim, i was trying to input not just 3, but more geometries into the form. was wondering if there are anyways to input them quicker rather than adding more definitions to these?

something like cluster?

thanks.
