Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

dear all,

I was looking for the best way to add thickness to a network of curves.

I tried to make the ExoWireframe do this and then use the Weaverbird's Laplacian Smoothing, because these two give the desired look (i.e. thinner in the middle and thicker at joints, see the image attached), but as the ExoWireframe only works with lines, and I have curves as well as lines - I believe it won't work.

Can you give me some advice on how to achieve the this effect? I would also need to be able to set the different thickness to the lines depending on the height

Thank you in advance,

Alex

Try the cocoon plugin... it's brilliant and can do curves!

Thank you!

looking at it

Why is your shit all strung out, man?

DISTILLATION:

*We* now see you are trying two different Voronoi components, the standard Grasshopper one that makes a stupid bounding box around your input geometry and the other crazy insanely SLOW one that does a BREP geometry container for real but doesn't actually work in complex cases.

You're also using random point Voronoi so should be thrown off a building by ISIS.

thank you for your reply!

you're absolutely right.

I was trying to make a Voronoi-based geometry for quite a while, and this is the best result I got so far, although it's still far from what I'd like to get.

T-Spline's tspipe is another option, but if only you are willing to buy it.
