Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I have been trying to sweep two surfaces which represent a solid and an open section along a line/curve.

The surfaces represent a prestressed concrete girder.

I have generated the coordinate geometry of the critical points and constructed line and have tried to merged both lists, however I am unable to order my coordinates sequentially.

What I would like to do is:

  • cordinate my geometry sequentially inceasing x ordinate
  • shift list my first and last, applying the solid surface
  • cull using a true false sequence applying the solid surface alternately
  • cull using a false true sequence applying the open section

I have struggled to order my coordinates.

Additionally once I have culled the lists, could soemone provide some help on how to assign the lines from the list components. ie. how are the effectively applied or extracted from the list comonents, if thats an acceptable way of doing it.

Hi.

Try to use "Sort Along Curve" or "Sort Points" component.

Red parts are my additions.

Hi Kim thanks for that.

I'm not sure about the reason for the BBX?, using the curve and pt containers certainly helps to tidy up the components.

The def rev C i think has the right geometry, however it does not appear so. :(

attached panel indictates the correct lengths of section to be extruded or swept (although sweep doesn't work.)

I aim to get 1800mm solid, 6410mm open, 2-90mm solids, 5953mm open, 2-90mm solids......finishing with 2-90mm solids, 6410mm open, 1800mm solid.

Booleans for the cull sequence True False, False followed by False True True.

I should have the hang of this by christmas 2016.

Thanks for your effort and time.

You've already got the rails for extrusions, so I think it's not that difficult to achieve your objective.

Hope this is what you are after. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season. Best.

Thanks Kim,

Thats is ideal, I got my def to work, getting the hang of shifting and toggling I got slightly muddled and very frustrated.

Your def was very neat and much clearer thanks.

Did you use the bounding box components to consistently orientate the open and closed curve geometry? I'm a little puzzled by that.
