Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone!

I'm new to Grasshopper and currently working on my first project.

I have a general question. Is there a way to generate something like a symbol or a block of code, that you can repeat within your Grasshopper file? When you change the main symbol, it changes everywhere throughout the file?

For example, screenshot below. The code within the purple block is always the same. I would like to change the upper one, and have the bottom two change as well.

Thanks!

p.s. Yes, I know there is a red block...haven't figured out what's wrong, but the model looks good ;)

Hi Anja,

we don't have instances yet. I only just put clusters back together, and this will eventually be the tool of choice for creating instances of components. But until then you're out of luck I'm afraid.

Hi David,

Just a thought: How are clusters going to managed with parentage? Will it be like a history setting that all copies of clusters will update from the original unless you break that history by editing one further down the line?

Danny
I have no idea yet.

Add that to the lengthy wish list then :)
Thanks, good to know!
BTW On the red component side, if you have shifted a list to create the lofts then there will be one extra set of curves in the first list which won't have a matching set in the second.
