algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi there! Our structure is inspired by woven wooden fences (rattan). Our rattan would consist of a more resistant materials (polymer) weaved around metallic posts. The two elements are independent from each other; there is no mechanical fixation between the two. We assume that the structure works by pulling the braids, these are in traction.
Being weaved around the posts on either side, the braids push on the posts therefore exerting compression on them. The braid stays in place due to friction between the two materials as well as the compression of the braid (vertically) from stacking them on top of each other. To make it more stable, this “braid wall” is doubled and sometimes the braid crosses from one wall to the other to create bridges and aid in bracing the structure.
With this in mind, we were wondering how to manage this in Karamba? We have some knowledge in Karamba but unfortunately not enough to do this structure precisely. We have joined the Grassshopper file so that hopefully you can give us a hand. Many thanks in advance !

Not so related but: if you haven't you should look at the work of Sina Nabaei (recent PhD EPFL).
Articles like Form finding of Twisted Interlaced Structures or his PhD thesis Mechanical form-finding of timber fabric structures may help you. I know he is using gh for braided type structures.
Thx Victor !
I sent a request in order to get the thesis, we will have a look as soon we get it.

Hi !
Sorry to insist but does anybody has a solution or an idea how we could create our Karamba model !
Thank you in advance !
