Attractor Point with rectangles at certain plank dimensions

Hello:

I am trying to do a floor plank pattern that has this effect (picture below)

I need the planks to be a certain maximum and minimum length and width. I am assuming I would create a rectangular grid with two attractor points and set a maximum and minimum value?

Thanks!

It's a tricky problem in a way, the image doesn't seem to be based on a grid at all, the white (or the black for that matter, they seem to be mirror images of one another) area seems to be a collection of aligned rectangles.

There's several things you can do to vary the density of a pattern like this:

  • Place more or fewer rectangles in a certain area.
  • Make the rectangles smaller or bigger in a certain area.
  • Make the rectangles overlap more or less in a certain area.
  • Any combination of the above.

Options 1 and 2 don't seem too difficult, though it will be tricky to make sure that the leftover space also doesn't break minimum length/width requirements.

Perhaps if you explain a bit more about your goal (what sort of lengths? what sort of widths? freely varying between extremes or only in increments?)
