algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi Aaron
Did you eventually get your x,y,z coordinates through firefly? I'm currently away from my other computer, but I've been working on something similar. I haven't done the kinect V2, firefly, windows 8, new usb port upgrade that will bring me up to speed with new firefly functionality.
I'm currently writing a tracking program to integrate some binary threshold tracking, bitmap colormatrix transformations, and rg chromaticity threshold color inclusion within a subthread to really optimize the kinect's performance. It may use opencv hough circle or other edge detection libraries to find x,y,z coordinates corresponding to the kinect depth data.
Are you interested in a live feed of points or a static list? Maybe a directory and a saved file. It looks like this one of the real, tangible differences between kinect v1 and v2. I've only been able to log an x,y,z list of points in kinect v1.
If your interested in importing data into grasshopper and firefly, I've found a great WPF hand tracking program I can send you. There is a serial reader function in firefly that I haven't made full use of. It may be the key to getting a live data stream from tailored hand tracking program.

Yes I would be interested in the program you are working on. I am interested in getting a live feed of the point data from a kinect v1 or v2 and ideally being able to using multiple kinects at once of either kinect version. If I can only do this with a static data form, that is alright the more important part is to get at least 2 kinects to gather more point data from a 3d object. My overall goal is to have all of this data imported in to grasshopper so that I can then manipulate the point cloud with grasshopper and python scripting. I am looking forward to seeing if you can help me or point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Aaron
Hi Aaron
Sorry for the late response. What Kinect SDK do you have? I run SDK 1.8 with a Kinect 360 and it runs just fine, don't listen to haters! If you have it running, you should check out this page. The second link is the resource it came from.
