algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello I'm doing work for students , I want to show the deformations of a rope with different load situations . For example, applying a point load on the heart , the problem is that I can not function as a string, and when I apply loads in other parts of the rope forces are not applied vertically.

I appreciate any help .

Best Regards

Patricio

I could solve part of the problem , now the deformation resembles a rope . But I do not get loads are applied in the vertical plane . thx best regards

Hi Patricio,

the 'Local?' input-plug at the 'Point Load'-component can be used to specify whether the loads co-rotate with the node they sit on or not (see attached file 'Cable_cp_I').

An alternative to using the large deformation component would be to use second order theory and truss elements (see attached file 'Cable_cp_II'). Since Th.II assumes small displacements the point loads do not co-rotate.

Best,

Clemens
