algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello there, is there anything like the opposite of subdivision? i know reduce mesh in rhino but that doesn't always give me valid results plus it is not the opposite of subdivision. the opposite would be something like merging every four faces or you know it would have a logic like that, merging etc.

does anyone know anything about that?

What kind of mesh are you dealing with? I can imagine a simple grid of mesh faces, joining every two, and rebuilding a mesh face from the corner points. how is the mesh organized?

i would like to add some images to further explain the concept. visual artist quayola http://designplaygrounds.com/deviants/matter-by-quayola/ is working on models and lowers the resolution wherever he wants.

hello etsim

cheers
