Christopher Zoog recently presented to the New York City Revit User Group on the way HOK are using (and pushing software vendors) IFC as it's designed to permit BIM data to be shared across multiple software platforms for various design and management tasks. The first part of the video demonstrates Grasshopper to Revit using the Geometry Gym IFC developments.
Nicholas Mundell has just published a blog post on the use of the Geometry Gym Developments at Thornton Tomasetti.

Kudos Jon:
Your dedication and talent for providing innovative solutions in the area of structural engineering are appreciated and impressive.
Are you aware of a recent article in a prominent Structural engineering magazine that claims there is no direct link between Rhino and Revit? Article: http://www.structuremag.org/article.aspx?articleID=1590
This article would seem to prempt the opportunities for tools that are very powerful and seems to support the big fish's products?
Keep in mind that the Author chairs a National BIM Workshop presented to AD Univ?
Perhaps a rebuttal article is in order? ;)
Hi Michael,
Interesting article, thanks for posting. I guess it depends on your definition of a direct link. Probably this is using a native file format of one of the parties or an API. IFC is a bridging file format, but a very effective one at that. It's nice to see some of the commercial applications of the tools published for others outside to see such as HOK and Thornton Tomasetti references above.
Cheers,
Jon
Ultimately, and in the spirit of true integration, we are all seeking the all-inclusive BIM model that requires no inter-model operability between platforms. Until the day when we can do that (which is a long way off, but much closer with Rhino3D/GH vs ACAD), effective bridging as you note is the key ;)
It's 2013, and structural engineers shouldn't have to build multiple models to analyze in different programs. GG is helping avoid this double-effort.
Given GH/GG's accessibility and ease of use, hopefully the smaller firms can pick up on this technology also, so the profession becomes stronger with society benefitting ;)
