Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

So I have to get back to clusters once again and their many shortcomings (although still better than having no hierarchy at all).

I have noticed that pretty much all the nodes in the Tab "Display" are useless inside clusters, because they dont have any output. So at any point where I want to display text tags for example, the Text Tag node needs to be on the topmost layer to work. Otherwise its just not displayed, only if I am editing the cluster.

I think I would prefer if a cluster just displays whatever is displayed when I am editing it. For small nodes it makes sense that you turn preview on and off to show and hide their OUTPUT, but in a cluster, you might want to display intermediated steps as well, which dont have an output. I think it makes sense to do it like that, because a cluster is a lot different to just a single node. They can be huge and have many different nodes inside. It would make it much easier to work with them. Or maybe it could be an option for a cluster, something like "inherit previews".

What do you think David?

if you right click the cluster and choose preview contents, that's exactly what it will do.

Ahaaa. Thank you, sir! Somehow I missed that one.
