Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Mostapha,

I'm afraid I have another error with some components.

When I run an energy simulation with your exemple file (Energy shade benefit evaluation), everything is fine, but...

When I do the same with my HBzones (constructed with a closed Brep on grasshopper), the preview with the windows is good, the HBzone seems to be ok, but there is some errors in the report I can't understand..

Could you please check the file? I think there is a problem in the way I design the zones but I don't know where. I plan to defined the zone to have appartment like the third example, which is ok for daylight simulation but not for energy one (see joined file).

Thks you very much (if you have time...)

Hi Ilona,

The simulation runs fine on my system but as you have probably noticed yourself you need to break down the zones into smaller ones.

What you are trying to do is actually pretty easy and you almost had it there. Check the script inside the red box. It should work both for daylight and energy simulation.

Cheers,
Mostapha

Hello, Thanks you to correct the file. I still have an error I don't understand why:when I run the simulation it seems to work but then I have this error " 'numZones' is not defined "   and there is no data from the HB-read EP result (screenshot joined).

Is there a maximal surface of a zone we can work with without dividing it into smaller zones?

I've solved the problem by uninstalling energyPlus and reinstalling it again. Anyway, thanks you for your support, it's encouraging! :)

Hi Ilona,

I'm glad that your issue was worked out.  It seems that it had something to do with E+ not outputting an eio file with surface information in it (from what I can tell).   Whatever it is, I am glad that reinstalling fixed it.

For general informational purposes, those warnings in the panel happen because the "write EP Result Parameters" component requests some outputs that are for the OpenStudio VAV and PTHP systems, which E+ does not understand when you are running an ideal air loads system.  In short, there is no need for concern over those warnings.
