Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi!

I have had some struggling to get started (and go on) with Geometry Gym so i hope this file can help someone to get started with the plugin.

My idea has been to try to collect the most basic "component combinations" that are needed in the start of the project. These combinations can then be pushed forward during the project. My dream is to have these kind of "component combinations" of every GG component. Then it would be fast to learn how specific component is working and much faster to use them in projects.

So if you are interested to help to assemble this forward, i would really appreciate it!

The file has still some mistakes but the idea is quite clear.

Hi Harri,

Thanks for posting.  Looks like it could be quite helpful for users learning the tools.

Documentation has been one of the areas I'm hoping to assign more focus.

Do you think it might be worth setting this up as a project on git hub (or some other site file sharing site such as google drive or similar) so that multiple users can access and write/document the file (Without posting lots of version to a thread like this).

Let me know what you think and I'll look into it.

Cheers,

Jon

Hi Jon!

It would be really nice to have site like that. I just hope that users are interested to push this forward. Updating the file should be as easy as possible that users could just add their components and save the file.

Anyway - some kind of "guide" for the plugin would spread it more for sure. I think that there are two steps in learning GG. The first step is to understand how ifc works and how to make basic component combinations. The second step (that i am also trying to take) is to find out what are the limits of ifc/gg and how to use components as creatively as possible. (eg. double curved walls, beam joints, ifc4 etc.)

It's above all up to you how you want this plugin to be developed ;)

Hi!

I collected some different ways to create ifc-beams. The third example might not work. There is also some kind of issue with units. I have fixed unit problem just by making new profile wires. Jon, do you know where is the problem?

Hi Harri (and others interested in example documentation),

I'm trying a new way of hosting an example script on github.

Refer to this blog post if you're wishing to try.
