Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi! guys

I am trying to draw flexible arc    (to simulate the function of fern~)

The first question is how to divide the curve to Different Length. And the second question is how to Control a Straight line to arc by multiple Triangles.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank in advance!

Hello Ali,

You can find in the attached file an example of a 2d curve and the way to make it with the expression component of grasshopper... I didn't find the "Parametric curve" of the fern function so i've put a hyperbolic spiral. You can check that french website :http://www.mathcurve.com/ who's referencing almost all 3D, 2D curves and surfaces, a lot of very awesome things. You search for "paramétrisation cartésienne" that's the name of parametric curve in french and that's what you need !

Thanks you Nenov : )

I found a parametric curve`s image on the website you attached to me~(http://www.mathcurve.com/courbes2d/intrinsequech.gif).This parametric formula is indeed what I am finding for.

I am Sorry to bother you.....But can I ask you how to make it with grasshopper?Because the length of curve can`t not be changed in the action,if I want to  simulate the function of fern.

Thanks~

Here's a try but you have to play with the parameters and change the range of t, u and d, i think you can play with negative numbers too!!
