AND is true if all inputs are true. You're only providing a single input, so the result is identical to the input. AND is a variable parameter component, so you can also add more than two inputs. Although you can make a case it shouldn't work this way, it is designed to work this way.

"All inputs", so even if there's just one input. Feels indeed counterintuitive to me, but it's good to know the component is working like this intensionally, thanks David. I can't imagine why this is the intended behaviour though.
edit: I can see why the Gate OR would work if only one value is provided, but for AND I think there should be at least two values for it to work.
