Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello, I need a plugin or program grasshopper that allows me to design a structure and me optimize the parameter of the maxima arrow, for example: arrow = light / 250 I need to know the values of minimum volume required and structure function with its maximum permissible arrow.

Thank you

'arrow'? Perhaps a napkin sketch of what you have and what you need is in order...

this is the arrow, how it is called in English? I am from Argentina

Hey Llordella, that distance under the beam you are identifying is called Deflection in the US.

Also, in your original post, what you call Light, that is called the Length of the beam.

Are you just trying to optimize the kind of beam you have drawn there? If so, there are far simpler methods of beam optimization by hand that will work better.

yes, I have these plugins but I manage to get the results I need

you should try posting to the plugins group since the help you need is specific to them

I am not a structural engineer myself, and you probably would get a better solution from these guys. But I think this issue could be solved without the use of karamba or milipede, just regular grasshopper components, if you want simple elastic deflection, with no consideration of lateral buckling:

You can also set the minimal limits of "b" and "h"sliders to some real values, otherwise Galapagos might end up finding solutions like: 0.01m width and 0.10m height of the beams dimensions.
