Herringbone tile pattern with color gradient and randomizer

So, I am new to grasshopper, and am trying to lay out a ceramic tile pattern for a project in a parquet herringbone pattern.  Additionally, I want to create a gradient across the entire surface using 5 colors, but also have the ability to randomize the pattern a bit afterwards (see attached image).  Is this possible?

Thanks!!!

I was just looking into herringbone patterns. It's not a straight-forward pattern to generate from a simple grid. It is easy to copy-paste or array, though. My suggestion would be to model the tiles in Rhino, then create the color gradient in Grasshopper. Here I've done it quickly with a simple attractor-point logic.

Instead of the custom preview at the end, I'd just bake these to different layers where each layer is a different color tile.

To get the random, you could add a (pseudo)Random component when testing the distances to shift the numbers a bit and mix up the zones between the colors.

I second Damon's comments.  I had spent a little time, (a while ago so this definition is a rough sketch and outdated), exploring this pattern.  At the time, it ended up being one of those things that was just easier and faster to array manually in Rhino.  I did end up with a definition, but all it does is array in x and y.  It doesn't have any useful logic for following curves or anything.  It's really just an overly complicated hatch pattern definition.

This makes me wonder - perhaps it could be nice to have a tool for arraying 2d shapes in any of the 17 wallpaper groups...

Thank you all for your valuable feedback and assistance!!!

I was looking at that and reading about the wallpaper groups before I replied above. I think that would be a great tool.

I really appreciate the links that you post in your comments.... great sources to learn more. Thanks

Hi ZachSher, here is another approach, hope it helps/contributes.
