Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

does geometry generated in GH have a global unique identifier or equivalent? Or do I need to bake geometry in order to generate it?

Thanks,

Mathias

Hi Mathias

the ID is GhPython-specific (and to that, Grasshopper-document specific). Additionally, geometry does not per se have any ID associated with it. Once you make an object "a mesh" (in your case) in Grasshopper, the ID it has is currently lost. ID, color, layer information, etc, are all stored in Attributes. Attributes are only generated when an object is in a document.

I hope this helps

Thanks, Giulio.

I was just curious, because of this discussion.

I think I could essentially just generate a GUID in GH for the export to work until Suqi figures out a way to use attributes.
