A boolean toggle and a stream filter component can, somewhat, replicate the data dam. See attached.

That's great! And you actually solved my next planned Q about being able to swich between 2 different inputs!

Cool, glad it helped. If you need to switch between more than two inputs you can just you keep adding parameter inputs to the filter component (zoom in and click the plus icon). Attached an example..
