algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I am trying to generate a curve that will envelope a group of circles like shrink wrap.  I have tried dividing the circles into points and making a delaunay mesh from those points but the effect is not what I am looking for.  Can anyone advise me on how to achieve the desired effect?

How do you want the wrapping curve to behave in between circles?

I suppose it would be something like this, where a number of points were generated along the outside of the outer most circles and one point would be generated where the circles meet, then run a control point curve through them.  Once I get there I could use an offset to mellow out the cavities.

I realize some of the circles in the view are not perfectly touching, but I am not worried about that right now, I believe I have that problem under control

I imagine Tangent Arcs would be a useful first step. ("Curve->Primitive" panel.)

Maybe this will help you, but is inelegant.

Or this, need the alpha shape component.

Excellent, thanks for your help Dani.

Where can I download the alpha shape component? I cannot find it.

Never mind, I just had to join the group, I see now.  Thanks again for your help Dani!
