algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello every one,
I was trying to create a retractable cable structure like below.
As you can see, there are some nodes which can move along the cable.
The idea was, that the node Nr.0 will pull back (to lift or right) when the winch active by using kangaroo ‘vortex’ or ’gear’.
When node Nr. 0 start moves along the cable it would hit the node Nr. 1, 2 and so on…
All the nodes are also connected (with a wire in red) in order to keep their position/ distance.
I have tried some nice kangaroo’s components, such as ‘sphereCollide’, ‘CollideSurf’ or ‘BoxCollide’…
I have many problem by use ‘spherecollide’ and ‘boxcollide’ coz I couldn’t control the movement along a curve.
By CollideSurf, even I could push some points onto breps to make the collision happen, but the breps muss stay there even strong collision…
I saw a very interesting video from daniel piker:

(Especially the elephant part…it’s funny, awesome!!!)
I was wondering, how we can deal with rigid element like this chair or elephant-hit. Imaging how domino works!
Has anyone advise or keywords for this retractable-task?

Wow! terrific daniel!
let me play it for a while then will give u feedback soon ;-)
Hi Daniel,
to make the 'locomotive driving himself' I applied a uforce in x, and also create a switch(close/open) in control room(GH canvas).
My understanding that a constant-speed isn’t real. Normally a engine accelerate the speed by time.
I make a definition, and trying to increase the speed by distance/time like below.
My intention is to accelerate it from 0 to 3, until the whole system found the equilibrium. The problem is how can I make it time history?
I have checked many discussions about kangaroo sequence, but still confused me...
Do you have any advice?
