Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello Everybody,

want to morph a curve on a suface by sufaceMorph Component! Need the the exact U and V Space of the whole Surface! Is there any way to extract it in GH?
Without the exact Parameters it isn´t possible to deform the Cuve to the whole surface!
Can get the Prarameters in Surface Detail in Rhino.. and type them manual to the surfaceMorph Component U and V input! This s very inconvenien, I think!
Does anybody knows how to get it in GH? Or das anybody know a better way to get the same result?

Have a nice day

Hello Nils, have you looked at the interval components? Take a look at the attached definition for how you can get the Domain of the surface. If this is not wht you need, show us an image of what you want to do...

And here is an example with the surface morph component. Two versions, morphing the curve to the entire surface, and morphing the curve to surface subdivisions. Let me know if they make sense.

thx luis for the illlustration patch

Hello Luis. I want to map some curves from one surface to an other via grasshopper or rhino. It doese'nt matter. I trieed several approach but I could'nt (tween surface, map to surface, surface morph ) ı wonder if there is a way of doing this. What is your advise? Thanks.

here is the .ghx file

Hello I know this discussion is quite old, but I'm trying to do something like this, I want to morph some lines in a divided surface, I used your srfDomain2 def Luis, but it marks some error, I suppose I'm using it the wrong way, or there is something wrong with the way I made the curves... It would be great if you could help me or give me some suggestions, I am new to grasshopper/rhino and I'm having some trouble to understand exactly what the components do.

Thank you

Hello Aida,

I think this is what you were looking for.

Hey thank you so much! this was really helpful!! :D

hi!

I am trying a similar thing, I want to morph some crvs on a surface, but it only takes some of the curves, not all of them...

is there a way to morph a whole bunch of curves at once?

what I am actually trying to do is to unroll a surface, design some facade-lines on the flat unrolled bit and map them on the surface again.

for now, i was just using a flat rectangle which has the same size as the original surface ( single curved) to design my lines, and then used srfmorph to map the curves on. it works fine as long the curves are in a chain or one polyline, but it does not take all the curves...

is there a smarter way to do this? (tried map to srf but didn't really succeed with that....)

thanks,

nice greetings,

Romana

managed to map everything, i guess it was the intervall for the srf...?

anyhow...

would be still interested in how to get the 3d curves to 2d though...

nice greetings!

hello everybody!I don't know how to use Surface Morph. Can you send me the example file?Thank you very much!

Hello,

I'm french sorry for traduction (google):

Despite my various searches, I could not turn a curve directly.
I think my technique works,
For lines, two points are sufficient (vertex).
For curves, control points are sufficient.
For arcs that its complicated, it all fake checkpoints more vectors.
See the results here:
