Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I'm sure this is something stupid but I have a copy of Rhino 5 64 bit and have just recently installed Grasshopper. The installation was fine but now when I'm in grasshopper, my components aren't displayed correctly and if I zoom in they completely disappear? I've never had this problem before but it's making things impossible and I have a deadline. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Zoom in on the Grasshopper canvas or the Rhino viewport?

Grasshopper?

And I cannot see the names of components etc. They are just blank. If I hold the mouse pointer over them it tells me what it is?

A little more info about Operating System, machine specs, Graphics Cards Driver dates Rhino 5.8 SR, GH 0.9.00072 etc,

A Couple of screen shots might help of the problem (and also the Rhino>Options>View>OpenGL graphics info)

Yeah sorry mate. I've attached a screenshot. I'm probably doing something really stupid. Haven't used it in a while. Opened up old definitions though and had the same problem. It's the latest version of both programs as I just checked?

See the components are just blank and if I zoom in they just disappear?

So this has nothing to do with the Rhino viewport, and thus nothing to do with OpenGL and video card drivers, it's purely a problem in Grasshopper.

The image you posted is in fact correct. When you zoom out, Grasshopper will draw less and less detail on the canvas as there are more and more objects visible. First the highlights and icons/names disappear, eventually the wires (provided they are visually short) go too.

If there's an error in the display which is handled (i.e. no crash but you can't see anything either) then there should be error messages printed to the Rhino command line. Can you see anything going on there?

To be specific, if the zoom drops below 80% certain things will not longer be drawn, if the zoom drops below 60% other things will no longer be drawn. The screenshot you posted is at 41%, so it should only show component outlines and wires.

click on the plus next to view to get the next level for the OpenGL page.

Have you tried Re-Installing GH?

Also change the Display settings to only one monitor and see if there is any difference. (might sound lame but need to rule out unknown variables)

Re-installing almost certainly won't help. It's something that goes wrong once the app is up and running.

Hello All,

Thank you for your replies. I had to leave in the end last night. I am however back today and the problem still persists. I've tried reinstalling and everything else suggested. Ultimately I just cannot see and of the numbers or letters on the components. What ever percentage of zoom I use, they remain blank or when I zoom completely in they just go blank?

Sorry when I zoom in completely I mean they disappear. Also, just to be clear, it all seems to be working. I can connect and disconnect components no problem. I just cannot see what I'm connecting to!
