Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

An update to Grasshopper is available for download from the usual location. This update fixes an important bug with deserialization of persistent data stored in generic parameters. This release also introduces a set of components for creating angular and distance dimensions. These components are not entirely finished yet, especially baking is still a bit rough in places. Also note that a new Tab has been added and some components have been moved from their old position into this new tab.

GH1 Beta 5 was never officially released, though it was the default download for a while. Look in the Grasshopper Version History for a detailed list of changes over time.

List of changes:

  • A new Display tab has been created for components that show stuff, rather than do stuff.

  • [Blend Colours] component has been hidden, we recommend [Interpolate Data] instead.

  • [Point List] and [Point Order] components have superceded the original [Point List] component.

  • [List Item] retrieval performance is now much better for large amounts of indices.

  • Added [Linear Dimension] component (Display.Dimensions panel).

  • Added [Aligned Dimension] component (Display.Dimensions panel).

  • Added [Line Dimension] component (Display.Dimensions panel).

  • Added [Marker Dimension] component (Display.Dimensions panel).

  • Added [Angular Dimension] component (Display.Dimensions panel).

  • Added [Arc Dimension] component (Display.Dimensions panel).

  • Added [Circular Dimension] component (Display.Dimensions dropdown).

  • Added [Serial Dimemension] component (Display.Dimensions dropdown).

  • Scribble objects no longer rotate by default when dragged.

  • Scribble objects can now be realistically dragged by holding SHIFT.

Fixes:

  • Persistent Data stored in generic parameters would sometimes fail to deserialize, this is fixed.

nice! thank you for the dimension components!

but what about to fix the problem with the evaluate surface component? I need that a lot, and have always to work around since the last gh version...

Does the attached Surface.gha work as expected?

yes david, now its working correctly for me! thanks!

Hi David,

Thanks for the new update! Nice with the dimensions - works great.

I am experiencing some issues, though, with both Evaluate and Expression components - it suddenly won't take my If-statements, and the list of Expression Functions is empty?

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Claus

Oops. Fixing it now.

Works now, thank you.

BTW, the dimensions are really great!

Hi, David. Thank you for the upgrade. The dimentions are great and added display tab makes a good sense. But what i found missing was expressions. Maybe you can help to figure it out is it because I upgraded grasshopper or it is caused by Rhino upgrade (how can that be?) that I did before installing new grasshopper. Problem shown on added png.

Rhino details: Version 5 SR8 32-bit (5.8.40305.11495, 03/05/2014)

Grasshopper: 0.9.0071

Same here. Empty functions list. RH5 SR7 64 bit.

I still get this error using expressions inside components... in version 72

It should now be "x" instead of "A"

thanks!
