algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Suggestion for a transparent background for improving interface in GH.

Hi,

Though i am an amateur user, I am sure most of us have always been confounded by the fact that there are two windows to juggle with rhino and gh.

I was just thinking if it were possible to develop a transparent background or a gradient for the GH window. That way we can click and manipulate the GH window while we are working on it and click and zoom-in / zoom-out, pan on the Rhino window without having to minimize the window. (try seeing the two attached images below to understand)

Another idea was that just like rhino-viewport windows we should be able to have a "single-click-maximisation - minimisation" option for the sizing up the GH window.

I look forward to understanding why this is not-possible :D

Hey Sylvian

I saw David's script, but i am not sure how to go about using it.. any pointers? I tried changing the values in the gui file but still no transparent background..

You cannot have a transparent background on a window that shows the pixels underneath that window. The script I posted will only change the transparency of the background fill layer, meaning that you can see the previous canvas pixels. This is not what you (or indeed anyone) wants.

I can't help but feel that what-it-should-be.jpg represents hell on Earth. The amount of clutter on the screen is --for me-- beyond reason. I find it very hard to tell the difference between pixels that have meaning within Grasshopper and pixels that have meaning within Rhino.

If I have to work on a single screen, I typically put Rhino along the left half of the desktop and GH along the right half. While in the office I have two monitors and I can put both windows on their own screen.

as for the minimise-maximise wish, double clicking the GH window topmost bar (my mind stuck, how is it called?) does just that.

cheers

title bar (lol)
