What I did was create a plane at an angle below the structure and then using the 'Project' function under transform to create a "shadow". The moving blue line you see in the video is on this plane and the plane rotates together with it, Quite stupid actually but the project function only projects it vertically on the surface. I then rotate this new flat shape to be planar with the ground and scale it to fit back in place under the structure.

what are you using for the shadow simulation?
