algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Elk - Brief from Timothy Logan on Vimeo.
This shows a set of plugins I've started that are designed to create maps using data from OpenStreetMap.org and NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab.

Are there some good news with Elk ;)
Still can't wait! :)
Awesome!!!! Can't wait!
Tim, very cool! If I am not mistaken, the data which Google Uses is also from the STRM? Will be interesting the two methods for getting elevation data. Can't wait to try it out!
This would save so much time for a lot of people, can't wait Tim
I can't wait.. Really useful tool!

I'm hoping to have it ready soon. The topo tool is still pretty unreliable and I wanted to try to get it done before I release it. The rest of it is running pretty well (so far).

The video is in real time, but it doesn't really show me retrieving the data (which can take a few minutes to download), just using them.

I have a longer video posted on Vimeo, but basically what's happening is I'm using data exported from OpenStreetMap as an XML file that is then being read and used to generate the points for the roads. The JPL data is used to generate the topo in the latter part of the video. The idea being that when I get it right (I don't think the topo's working right yet), I'll be able to generate a topo and project the road lines down onto it.
Excellent tool. When it will be ready for testing!?
What is happening? are the roads imported from the openstreetmap? and what is the JPL data for?
Hi Timothy,
Wow!
Is this video shown in realtime?
Best,
Martin.
