algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Testing the Rhino Gumball SDK for point coordinates stored inside floating Point Parameters.
The gumballs pop up whenever a point parameter with internal data is selected. They only work on coordinate data, so referenced points are ignored. There is an option to switch this behaviour off of course.

Is the rhino gumball SDK available?
I looked for a link to download it and I did not find.
Jesus,
it'll probably only work on data which is picked from within Grasshopper; points (but not referenced ones), lines, planes, arcs, circles, boxes etc. When data is referenced or calculated, then it's a bit weird to imagine what a gumball transformation would do to it.
Sorry I got confused with what was actually been displayed on the video...
Would this also work with surfaces?
Being able to pick in Rhino unbacked objects would really be something. I imagine a list item component, where you double click it and it lets you pick in Rhino an unbacked object/s.
Though I suppose something like this has already been though of, and it's maybe really difficult to program.
Cheer up! and thanks david always.
I can imagine ;)
This would really bring some intuitive approach back into GH - so it is getting finally possible to grab stuff :)
So I see no mesh support for now L .
Hope this works out soon for you and you can implement it in a way that it is flawless .
I really would love to see this happen soon for the group
are you planning to include that for geometries too?
I'm so far planning to support it for all simple types (points, planes, lines, rectangles, circles, arcs, boxes, twisted boxes and maybe transforms). However that means I need to be able to customize the gumball beyond what is currently possible and I'll also have to build in support for this sort of thing on a very low level because the sheer amount of code that is needed now per parameter is shocking.
ah~ catching of gumball properties to grasshopper as transformation matrix component for data catch & manipulating.
It sort of works now but there are still issues with hiding the gumballs sometimes. If I cannot resolve these to my satisfaction I might disable the functionality for the time being. Mostly this was a small project to see whether the Gumball SDK is usable in its current form. There were some questions about this as plugin developers seem to prefer to write their own instead of using ours.
I don't want to give the impression this works flawlessly, and in fact it may not even appear until GH2 if I cannot resolve the remaining issues.
