We've been having some trouble with some assets on the website not working quite right. Just modified the page with a different download link that appears to be working, so give it another shot.

hi timothy,
your component looks very interesting..!
i wanted to test it by downloading it from your website (link above.. http://www.hksinc.com/hksline/2015/01/19/linking-grasshopper-files/ ).
unfortunately if i click (LMB) on the download-button on that spicific website, a new page is opening (http://www.hksinc.com/hksline/?wpdmdl=653) with strange characters shown..
RMB-click doesnt work, cause it prints out/saves then just a html-file.
so i did the LMB and saved that strange page/file as a "file.gha" and gave it a try, but unfortunately it didnt work..
so i thought propably something went wrong with the linkage of your download!??!?
is it possible to get a direct-download-link oder the files from somewehre else?
that would be really great!
thank you!
best
philipp
Hi Timoty
Thank your for the job , now I understand my error , it is a bad manipulation of copy/past the component Guid in the pannel connected to the link entry !
Now how about to add a third gh file connected to the second (LinkTest02.gh) in the same way may it be the way to connect multiple Gh files ? (in sequential order 2-1 3-2 4-3 etc )
If the components show up in the Grasshopper ribbon then there's no need to unblock the GHA. If you did need to you would Right-Click on the GHA file in Windows Explorer and go to it's properties. On the General tab look to the bottom right and see if there's a button named Unblock. If it's there unblock it and apply the changes to the file, if the unblock button is not there then the file is already unblocked and should work fine.
Here's a simple test that's set up as you describe:
The file LinkTest01.gh has these three Components:
The file LinkTest02.gh has these four components:
Both files need to be opened at the same time. It currently can't link data from a file that's not open in the same session of Rhino/GH. Once you have the file name and the GUID it should start pulling the data across as long as it's a component with a single output.
Here's a ZIP with the two files:
Hi
How should I unblock the GHA file ?
I have two Gh files ,one(TEST1.gh) with simple number component that has multiple number (1-10) ,the other(TEST2.gh) has the link component with two entry one is the first file name(TEST1.gh) and the other is the number component Guid .
The DATA output of the link component does not show any number !
Thanks
Rhino 64 bit shouldn't be a problem. If it's not showing up in Grasshopper at all make sure you've unblocked the GHA file. If it's showing up in Grasshopper but isn't functioning, can you provide a little more information on what you've done that isn't working?
Hi
very Good idea
I try it on rhino 64bt ,it's not working !
Thanks
nice work!
Really nice work, I shared it at my fanpage https://www.facebook.com/ComplexGeometry , just a few days ago I was wondering if something like this would be possible, thanks for sharing
Right now it only works with two documents within the same Rhino/GH session. I started it because I was having to use parts of someone else's definitions that they were still working on, and rather than adding my own work to their file I wanted to find a way to reference it it. I was also on a project with a deadline looming so I didn't have a lot of time to come up with a solution. I'd love to take it a little further and see if i can set up a communication link between sessions or computers. It should be possible, just would take a little more time and thought to work out.
