The clothoid (also known as the Cornu spiral or the Euler spiral) is a curve whose curvature is proportional to its length. This characteristic makes it an excellent transition curve for building road and railway track layouts. This paper compares two methods for computing the clothoid: the traditional method, which relies on explicit formulas derived from Taylor expansions of sine and cosine functions, and the alternative method, which relies on numerical solutions to initial value problems to produce the clothoid parametrization. Nice video, I have been following your "Geometry of bending"-blog and it's good to see that you've already started sharing in this new forum. Ha det gott!
