algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Boid Animation from Richard Schaffranek on Vimeo.
"Boid" animation based on Craig Reynolds concept.
Some "boids" are trapped within the sphere.
Done with Rhino3d and Grasshopper3d, Hoopsnake, Spiderweb.
Not the best way to do it but useful to show that the concept of agents can also be used in Grasshopper3d.
Also not the first time done in Grasshopper, but as fare as I know first time without any scripting component.

Thanks Robert for the reply, i finally managed to achieve what i wanted
andreas,
i would be happy to help out if you want to post some shots. i would recommend starting a new thread so this does not get hijacked
Hey man, thanks for the response, i have checked the second video of this http://www.cerver.org/research/locustswarm/ and i tried to understand how the whole thing works, but unfortunately the boids can just get trapped in the brep. In order to avoid it i need a massive amount of steer force in Avoid component(Locust) and obviously the swarm is not working properly(its like pushing it to do something). I guess the answer is simple but i just cant find it, any help would be great!
Will check on the Link. I have done the animation just using Hoopsnake component, but I think you should have a look at the links bellow. They should make it easier then my version (and I hope a lot quicker...)
Best Richard
This should help u Andreas Iosif
hello guys, any chance of sharing the definition please? the link richard provided is not working for me. thanks in advance!
I have already downloaded it, I am very interested in the path following behaviour and if it is possible to link it to spiderweb > could be very interesting.
you can try locust, it is a plugin that has most of the boids behavior for agent based simulation. check out the group "cerver tools" or www.cerver.org
interesting to see thats it possible - will check it - thx for sharing!
Get definition from here.
Oh, one part was scripted, the camera was scripted to follow one boid...
Disable VB component to stop the camera viewport update ...
