algorithmic modeling for Rhino
The solution to this simple problem is obvious to human intelligence, maximize the sliders to get the stiffest truss. But it's an interesting demonstration of combining Galapagas and SAP2000 using the Geometry Gym Connectors. 3 variable inputs have been defined, number of truss segments and dimensions of chords and cross members. The fitness function criteria is to minimize deflection for a point load, a pending improvement is minimizing truss mass to achieve required deflection.

So the definition as demonstrated for the truss in the video above can be found on this blog post

Greetings! Thank you for the plugin location.
Do you have a GH defintion for the 111118 galapos interaction with SAP2000 or a simple GH defintion to start with?
Just to have a flow or algorithm to work with ..if you dont mind.
Hope to continually assist me on this endeavor.
Many Thanks
Tony
Hi Tony,
The plugin as shown here is available from http://www.geometrygym.com/downloads Happy to assist you with getting started with these tools. Examples are at http://geometrygym.blogspot.com
Hi Jon
I found this video very interesting!! Thanks
Im an engineer and very interested in the the interaction between Galapos and SAP 2000. is it hard to do a script between grasshopper and SAP? do you know a third party plugin to do this?
Thanks
Tony
