yes the animation at the end is done by capturing the model at various angles and then putting them together.
Thanks for the links Nick. Quite an elaborate sequence of steps - not exactly a weekend project.

really nice idea, interesting combination of techniques.
I'm curious about animation toward end of the video when the head rotates, is that animation created from a series of completed 'light prints' each at a diff angle or an alternate method?
