Aranda/Lasch - Tooling

Hi everyone,

I tried more than once to find the scripts from Tooling from Aranda/LAsch without success. Supposedly all of it would be available at their website (www.arandalasch.com/tooling), but the website is "being updated" since a very long time.

I was wondering if one of you have the scripts and would share it with us.

Comment by Amir Soltani on May 9, 2013 at 6:24am: The scripts have been taken off again. These two designers cannot make up their mind as to release these few insignificant scripts. At least to be true to their words on the book they should give the scripts. Everyone who bought the book could complain to the publisher and also leave a low feedback on Amazon.

Comment by Astro/Naught on July 9, 2011 at 10:56pm: This is an interesting one here because I for one got my hands on that book when it first came out in 2005/06, and I have been waiting ever since for them to follow up on their promise of making the scripts available. (I kind of gave up in 2008)

I have attached their 'Notes on Tooling' statement from the book and it is interesting what they say just before the end: "We are cataloguing all the code for users who wish to propagate them for their own purposes in the same way that we borrowed, edited and repurposed code that was made available to us".

Now is it just laziness that has hindered them to make these scripts available or could it be that some of those scripts were developed and used to produce a series of high profile furniture designs/projects, which were of course now exclusive to them. Therefore, this made it a little bit difficult, to say the least, for them to just 'give away' their 'tools of the trade' and share them with the rest of us. Now I can totally understand their reasoning here if that is the case, but this point also goes a little deeper here because it relates to a reoccurring theme here and that is 'sharing'.

I do sincerely hope that they are just lazy. :)

Comment by Luis Fraguada on July 6, 2011 at 12:20pm: Thats funny, I remember doing the same thing for a few months after reading Tooling. Seems they never followed up on that. Lets hope they too, it would be a great resource to go along with the printed version.
