Learning to use grasshopper generally requires a brief introduction and then its up to you to experiment and adapt example files that are shared.

I made this example file use Galapagos to arrange columns for two cases:
1. To make each column support a similar area (working equally hard).
2. To arrange the beams to make them a similar length (to avoid cutting material).
