karamba - parametric structural analysis

karamba is an interactive structural analysis program at the interface between architecture, design and engineering. It closes the gap between parametric design and statical assessment.

If you would like to test karamba download it from

Rabbit : L systems top-down

Hey

I just startet using GH, and am amazed by the possibilitys offered by the Rabbit addon (idem for kangoroo, galapagos, ....). I am wondering if it s possible to use an l-system algorith to create a structure wich starts at a given point (on the floor) an ends also at given points in space (under the ceiling) (or the other way around)?

Is this a thinkable use of the l-system? How complex is it to turn the integrated Rabbit l-system in functionning this (or a similar) way? I…

Rhino CPlane in Wrong Position

Hey,

By now, I am sure you've noticed that I am a novice and very new to Rhino and Grasshopper - three blog posts already!

Anyway, I've got this problem which I really cannot seem to solve. I attended the Intro to Grasshopper Webinar with David Rutten on Thursday 9th of December. There, he showed an example of how to project section planes into a building. Now, I am trying to do the exact same thing.

In his case, one of the corner of his building touched…

Rhino Rendering Goes Wrong

Hey,

I know this is a website dedicated to Grasshopper, but since Grasshopper and Rhino are so closely tied, I thought of posting for help with Rhino here.

Alright, I have a site model of an area, and I am trying to render it very simple and basic, namely all the geometry being greyish-white and some light projected to create…

how to make a digital model of a twisted cylinder

I'm currenty doing a study project where I bend/twist a cylinder. see images below

Anyone who have an idea how to construct this geometry.

Its simply a cylinder where you grab two opposite sides and rotate one of the sides to the desired angle.
In the images this is approximately 270 degrees

Merge two different Geometries

Hey y'all,

I am new to Grasshopper and struggling with it, but loving it though, because it can do so many cool things, and I am eager to learn the software.

I am trying to make a long cylinder where one end is made up of a square and the other end is made up of a triangle, and these two merge gradually. For a clearer description of my enquiry, please se image :)

Thank you

Intersection of ray and mesh/surface

Hello,

I am trying to make a small definition to scatter "sound" [rays] inside a volume [Brep/Mesh] the reflections will be calculated simply using the normal of the surface/mesh at the point of intersection.

If I try to use meshray intersection component then is there a possibility to find the normal at the point of intersection?

If I try to use Brep/line intersection then i also only get a point but no normal.

If my Brep is made out of a number of surfaces and I am only… Continue

So called "Bjarke Ingels Facade" using Image Sampler

I have been coming across this script more than usual. So there you go...Just a small addition to the script: I have seen on BIG's website the corners are kept as is. In this one no matter what the image is the facade
ends with the floor slab thickness or any other thickness that could be defined by the user. Thus, the facade panels could be kept continuous.…

Data Tree Utilities: Match Path and Partial Flatten

In the coming weeks, I am planning to release some clusters I've put together for use, and I thought I'd start with two that correspond to common operations I perform on data trees.

The first, Match Path, takes a flat list of data with N items, and another list of data with N items with some kind of arbitrary tree structure. The output is the first flat list, reconfigured to match the path structure of the input list. I was inspired to create this one by a post…
